“And it would be one thing if you were useful,” Leonard continued to whine. “But as it is you just take up space and make everybody think I’m crazy.”
“Hey, I can DO THE FRIGHTENING VOICE. That’s often helpful, isn’t it?”
The regulars glanced up briefly at the sound of the intensely denomic voice emanating from Leonard’s mouth before turning back to their newspapers and conversations. Leonard was a fixture at the Midtown Bean.
“I guess sometimes, but mostly it just makes it seem like I’m crazy.”
“You are crazy. Who puts extra sugar in their soda? Crazy people, that’s who.”
“You know what I mean…”
The table lapsed into uncomfortable silence. Leonard dropped some change on the table, attempting, as always, to leave behind his unwanted passenger. As always, it didn’t work.
