Before The Dragons

I was born before the dragons had a place to breed, before the fire and storms and ice plagued the earth. But I do not miss those days.

Back then, millions of souls would be reaped in an instant by men who were desperate for power, wealth, or just bare sustenance. Behind glass our elders hid, shouting orders at pawns to fight senseless wars many oceans away. Can you imagine that, girl? Lands so distant that the sun used to shine on them during our midnight, and yet our kings still fought for what little they thought they could have gained! We were murderous, and we stopped at nothing for nothing was beyond our capabilities. We burned continents and killed life until nothing was left.

I saw it all happen. And here you come, an arrogant little child, telling me that I should help you bring that back? That somehow, through your leadership and strength you can change all this I’ve seen?

You will fail girl, and I will never help you. I would rather be fed to the dragon’s nest then watch the world die again.
