left out a word “dealt WITH their kind”

I think you could expand on the reasons for a transference to make this a little less difficult to swallow the first read through. Some paragraph breaks would also help.
However, I do not think the ending came too soon, it was a logical conclusion. The question remains, why didn’t she help him in return? Did she try and fail, was she too late, did she know it was he who saved her?
