Presentation Day

“So how did the video turn out?”

Jeff and Mason blanched in a way that made my stomach sink.

“You forgot to bring it?”

Jeff shook his head.

“You didn’t even make it, did you?”

They shared a distressed glance. Jeff piped up.

“We decided-”

“You decided! And what exactly did you decide? This is a group project! You had two weeks to review the original document and organize the film. We discussed this!”

“We were going to make the video,” came Mason’s promise in past-tense. “But we decided to make you read a longer document instead.”

I stared at my hopeful classmates, who preyed upon my studious efforts and foiled all attempts to divide the workload.

“This is why I hate group projects.”
