Awakening

Dark clouds rumbled above me as lightning struck the sides of the cliffs, boulders crashed towards me. Ignoring everything I ran down the desolate canyon, this was all too familiar now, the only true terror left here was the thing that I knew was chasing me, the thing that wanted to reduce my body to the smallest possible pieces and torture my soul for eternity. Luckily it’s slow, unluckily the canyon reaches a dead end soon with a nice little platform for me to stand on while I wait for it catch me. Every time we’ve done this it’s gotten closer to the platform before my escape, every time I come that little bit closer to my doom. I spotted the platform when something new happened. Light poured down from the clouds above and on the platform was a girl, a girl I knew! She seemed confused looking around but when she spotted me she smiled, by the look on her face when she looked past me I knew the thing was closer than it had any right to be. I dived into the light.
Bed sheets, thank god.
