The tunnel

She lay there on the floor. she felt a little as if she was gently sinking into the thick shagpile. her head was swimming, and her breathing was becoming shallow. Her mind seemed to be drifting away, out, up, over away from her body. They were still in the room. The three of them, standing motionless around her. Silently, without a single movement. She began to wonder if they were really there.

Her body was limp and lifeless. She could barely feel anything any more. Not a feeling, not a perception. They were gone now – or so it seemed, though in reality they had not moved in some time.

Time passed. Seemingly an eternity. She was less aware now. Less aware of their movement. Less aware of her own mortality.
