I was getting ready for school, when I felt this overwhelming urge to do a tarot reading. I was already running late, but… It was just social studies first period, and G.I. Jane was the biggest pain-in-the-ass teacher. So, I sat down at my desk and pulled out my tarot cards.

I shuffled, and placed the deck before me. Eyes closed, I drew the top three cards and lay them face down before me.

Then things got weird.

I turned over the first card – The Sun.

The first thing I noticed was it was inverted. There was no way it should be upside-down. Not in my deck. The second thing I notice was my room became considerably darker. Like the sun went behind a cloud, though it was a perfectly clear day.

Second card – The Moon.

It became darker still. I looked out the window. There wasn’t supposed to be an eclipse today, but there it was. People were yelling outside. Panic was already starting to set in. What the hell was going on? I was scared.

Hands shaking, I turned over the third card.

that is really not a bad reading you will be fine unless the next one in your deck is draw four uno card, then you are screwed.

Actually, the Death card in tarot simply means change, for better or worse.

    Cool story, bro!

Eloquent Mess took part of my comment.

I guess mostly the story caused me to wonder at the power of his deck – the cards could change their illustrations and make the world change instantly.

    What Mess said. :)

But then, who doesn’t get a little start when Death pops up. And this deck seems to be having some very literal effects.

Yeah, I was trying to show that, for some reason, her tarot deck was acting literally that day. Maybe I should have done this one as a 3-parter. It probably would have worked out better.

ooooooooo. a literal terrot card deck?!

ok, so why was the sun card upside down? That’s what I wanna know!!!!

Yeah, another thing I failed to communicate properly. It was just supposed to indicate something very wrong was about to happen, given the narrator states she’s very particular about her tarot deck’s integrity (for lack of a better word).
