Ficly

Bandroi an Cogadh

Years ago I participated in a shared world, fan fiction story. My character was a priestess of an Irish war goddess, a Bandroi an Cogadh (ban-DREE an CO-geh), and she wore a tattoo of triple ravens upon her back. They were proof that she had been accepted by her goddess.

Her path was not an easy one, but through it all she remained steadfast in her devotion to her goddess. And as much as I enjoyed putting her through hell, I still wanted her to win, so I made sure there was nothing that could budge her relationship with her deity.

It wasn’t just faith either. My character had stood before her goddess and knew without doubt that there was a connection between them. Sometimes I envy this.

I hadn’t written in years, but knew I wanted to play when I found Ficly. And as I looked through the few avatars I tend to use, I was reminded of a line I once wrote for my priestess…

“It is for the Morrigu that I dance with flesh and steel. Her and no other.”

I wanted that certainty with me. So, here are my ravens.
