I have been writing poetry and short stories for years and recently went back to school for my BA in Writing Arts. I am currently attending Ashland University’s MFA Program for creative writing. I write in many genres, but really like poetry and flash fiction. I like to dig under the surface and explore what is hidden by fear, or anger, or frustration. My characters are rarely what they seem to be at first read. I think life has many layers and that writing should explore as many of those layers as possible. I especially like the shorter forms because I can really focus on one aspect, or one incident and keep a strict character driven POV. Or, put another way, I like to drop my reader into the middle of chaos and have them caught up in the action along with the characters.
