Mankind (in part or in whole) has finally left Earth, for whatever reason.

Your story is set in space.

We could be in transit to a new planetary home.

We could be exploring the stars and reporting back to Earth Base.

We could be the exiled members of the New Earth Utopia, the undesirables that were cast into the cosmos so that Those Remaining On Earth don’t have to deal with our crap anymore.

Whatever the reason for our interstellar existence, the fact remains: we’re not in Kansas anymore. Far from it.

I’m looking for a “slice of life” story. Everybody’s read the action-packed adventures and terrifying alien encounters, but what of the down-time, when aliens aren’t invading and nobody’s trying to conquer new planets?

(This doesn’t mean aliens can’t play a part, of course.)
