I live in Indy and I went to a summer writing camp at Butler where we talked about all sorts of different styles and genres. We started talking about science fiction (which I love to read, but haven’t really been reading a ton lately—I really like Dean Koontz, but anyway..) and the professor told us that all Sci-Fi was, was taking everyday life and changing the smallest thing and imagining what it would be like. Then write it down and you have Science Fiction.

So there is my challenge for you folks. The title is Alternate Reality, but I say be as creative as possible. :)
