A Room with a View (Sci-Fi Me Challenge)
He found her at the viewing port looking out at Saturn. The planet filled a quarter of the sky, and clouds of beige and white, brown and umber, mixed in swirling patterns like milk just poured into coffee. The rings reflected sunlight back to them, yet held a kind of translucent glow, and stars twinkled as they passed behind it. She sat here and watched it all pass, wishing she could reach out and touch it.
“Watcha doin’” he asked.
“Waiting for Enceladus” she replied.
“Who’s that? Your BOYFRIEND?” he mocked.
“It’s the bright moon with the geysers” she groaned, rolling her eyes.
“Well Bobby and I are going to the movies to see Saw 23. Wanna go?”
“You know I hate that stuff”, she said, her eyes not leaving the viewport.
“Suit your self. It’s better than sitting here watchin’ nuthin’.”
He turned and headed for the door. He never could understand his sister.
