I like the tone of this, and it interweaves nicely with the prequel.

Seems like the reaction humanity would have as a whole. I was a little distracted by “…graphs were taken, satellite images created.” I would think the graphs would be created, and the satellite images taken. Other than that, you have definitely maintained my interest!
