New Case

“Thank you for taking this case.” the officer in front of Charles Bryant said, as they walked down the gray corridor.

“If the military needs my help that’s no problem.” Charles replied. Internally he was thinking that he had no choice due to the State of War Powers that were in place for the country.

“Good to hear. The trial is set to begin in a week. We will take you to the prisoner now.”

A week, Charles thought, that is not much time to get prepared.

“What are the charges?” he asked.

“That’s on a need to know basis. You will find out at trial.”

Charles stopped in the hallway. “Wait, you want me to defend this prisoner, but you are not going to tell me what he is charged with?” Charles was reeling from the officer’s comment.

“We do not need to tell you what the charges are.” The officer had stopped and turned around to face Charles.

“Under Section 3 of the Constitution, all prisoners…” Charles started to say.

“Section 3 does not apply here. This is a military court.” The officer quickly said.
