snowy sidewalks [poem]

the sidewalk huddles
under a snowy blanket
ankle deep.

the snow, bored of its sameness,
clings to my black boots
for a little adventure.

it covers the tip
in a converse toe,
looking for something new.

i cross the quiet street,
hushed in respect,
knock off the snow in one stomp,
and continue on.
