Throwback

She awoke as if from a bad dream. The sweat was dripping down her shivering naked body. “It’s okay Maggie, it will be okay. What is the last thing you remember?” Maggie caught her breath, and looked up at the old woman, she looked like her mother, but her eyes were her’s.
“The experiment, things were starting to go wrong…”
“They did, you were thrown back, you will continue to be thrown back each time it happens”
“What do you mean, who are you?”
“You, I was thrown back years ago, I wasn’t the first, but I’m far from the last. Most of the time you’ve died, trying to prevent it. Each time we get a little closer.”
Maggie blinked, and tried to process what the woman just said.
“You think I’m crazy, you think I’m lying, you think I’m crazy…its alright, you always do. Fine, let me just tell you this. We both have a scar, down the back of our left arm. Do you remember the accident when you were seven? The one that killed father?”
Young Maggie just stared and nodded, “Alright, so what do I have to do?”
