It Begins
Glancing around the prince realized that the field was full of people. Well, they appeared to be people at first glance. Some were tall, some were short. Some were hairy or scaly. All of them were quickly grabbing flowers to shield themselves.
He looked back at the girl that had taken the blue flower. She was taller than he was and willowy. He realized she had pointed ears.
An elf! he murmured to himself.
Shaking his head clear he searched again for a shield. Everyone was picking flowers. Suddenly he saw it, a leaf big enough to protect him, sprouting off of a plant that had already been beheaded. He quickly pulled the leaf off. No one fought him for this one.
During this time the dragon had started to rumble, growl, the prince realized. It increased in pitch and volume. The dragon’s jaws opened wider and wider, smoke poured from its nostrils and fire started to flare around its lips.
The dragon’s eyes shut as it expanded its chest. The prince licked his lips and gulped, fearing what would happen next.
