True Love

“You should go. You’ll never get another chance like this,” I said. But my heart broke as I said those words. He looked at me, surprised.
“Really?” he asked. I nodded, not trusting my voice. He looked at my for what seen like forever.
“You should. I’m sure you and Clare will be happy together,” I said. My heart was crummbling. I didn’t want him to leave, but I did want him to be happy. If for him to be happy was to be with another girl, then so be it.
“Why? Why do you really want me to go?” he said, and I could hear the hurt in his voice.
“If you truely love something, set it free,” I said quietly, “I’m setting you free. I want you to be happy. Even if it hurts me.” His dark eyes turned soft and loving.
“But if I leave, I wont be happy,” he said, “I’ll only be happy if I’m with you.” He pulled me into his arms, and I welcomed his embrace.
“I love you,” I said softly.
“And I love you,” he said. Then he leaned down, and kissed me.
