Halfway Between

She’d picked up ‘Deathly Hallows’ in the kid’s books section, not the adult’s. The kid’s cover was more cheerful with the trio in the mound of gold, even if Ron looked suspiciously like Rupert Grint. But that was two years ago.

Now the movie was coming out and her husband would rather listen to the book than read it. But the audiobook wasn’t the same. She’d never understand why their paper book was British but the audiobook was American. She’d never understood why there even was an American version of the book. Was there some weird publisher who didn’t think American children could understand English? It wasn’t like it was a different language after all. Still, it was a good excuse to go online and buy the British audiobook.

As though there needed to be an excuse for buying a book read by Stephen Fry.
