Breaking walls

He’d been going at it for weeks now. Weeks of him trying to get close to me, weeks of him trying to know me. I know I’ve been rude and quite possibly annoying, yet he still persisted, always coming over to try again. I was never one to warrant falling in love. I didn’t want to get hurt. But he came into my life and I felt like slipping out of control.

He was starting to break down my walls. I was falling in love with him.

The door opened and Anthony walked in, carrying boxes of Chinese take-out. He plopped down beside me and I took in his disheveled appearance making me smile unconsciously.

“What’s so funny?” He asked, his turquoise blue eyes sparkling mischievously. “What’s going on inside that head of yours?”

I blinked, my smile fading as I stared back at him. He looked absolutely beautiful, and someone like him didn’t deserve someone like me. He needed someone who isn’t afraid of falling in love, someone who isn’t afraid of taking the risk.

But I…

“Hey…”

I should take the plunge.

“I love you.”
