Oh, now that one got twisted, very twisted. Sort of ‘ignorance as innocence’ turned around to the potential pitfalls of really thinking through things and winding up in dark, evil places. Nice little series.
Clever way of looking at how short-term fix me ups don’t solve a big ol’ problem, and the resentment and vengeful attitude of the scarecrow is marvellously morbid…
My only qualm would be that you’re starting with him sat on a chair, as the Tin Man was, seems a little repetitive, but still, good work – MH :)
First let me say that I’m outrageously excited by these Oz stories! I find it interesting though that with both the Lion and Tin Man, their downfalls come about based on the consequences of their own actions (desire for courage and a heart) but the Scarecrow is just a victim of chance. I’d just like to see more of how knowledge can also corrupt.
Spot on, I really like the evolution of the original story. It’s like the first was childhood and this is the adolescence where darkness creeps in. Brilliant.
