The Doctor looked at his watch. “We’re running out of time.” His leg started shaking with agitation.
“What do you know?” Bill had come over to sit with him. The seven had split into three huddles covered in the army green blankets. Jeremiah sat with Jean-Luc, praying for their own souls. Ken, Katya and K’Tea sat by the boarded up window, aching from the loss of natural light.
“What?”
“You know something, I can tell. You’re waiting for something.”
“The truth is this…”
As the Doctor and the millionaire spoke in hushed voices, Jean-Luc heard scratches at the wall behind him.
“Mon dieu, zhey are coming for us.”
“Yes,” Jeremiah pulled Jean away from the wall. “I say it’s eat or be eaten, kill or be killed right now.”
Jean-Luc nodded in understanding.
“I’m sorry,” the Doctor said.
Bill sat quivering from shock at the revelation. “You…”
“Now that you know, I can’t let you live.” He pressed his hands against Bill’s temples and jumped back so his face was in the darkness, yelling.
