Two Strays
District Attorney Monroe Tanner peered off the roof which overlooked Don Luigi Moretti’s gorgeous townhouse. He had been camped up here for the better part of the day, waiting for an opportunity to balance the blind lady’s scales. He had been pissing in bottles to avoid missing anything. Monroe had strained his eyes to near blindness peering through the assault rifle’s 3.5x scope in the hopes of catching the Don near a window. Now, the luxurious oak doors were swinging open and the chance had come.
Two body guards walked out first, followed by the chauffeur who started the limo, and then the Don himself. Luigi Moretti was fat and dressed like a king, proof that crime pays. Monroe knew all too well that corruption in the justice system paid tidy sums to help keep that profitable crime in business. The Don began waddling down his front steps towards the waiting limo, lighting a thick and probably Cuban cigar during his slow descent.
Monroe aimed through the scope, thumbed the rifle to burst, and fired.
