Storm Before The Calm

The day her mother came back from Algeria to reconcile with Bob, her father, Carina was only 18 year-old. Bob wasn’t at home during the monsoon time when the coconut flowers spiraled down the sand, laying around the bench where Carina used to take a nap. Her mother paddled to the shore to have a better look at the beach house Bob had been hiding in. She adored the carvings on the main door, and those beautiful ceramic mosaic linings on each window.

She made a mistake by nagging Bob to leave. Been told an arranged married will never work out, she abandoned herself right at the heart. She missed Carina so hurtfully much to bear.

As she paddled her boat to a shelter under the coconut rows, she found Carina was no longer sleeping, in fact she was never asleep. Her mother assumed she came at the right time, but Carina heard what happened, she thought her mother comeback was meant for her happiness—meant for no one. Carina found boat pieces dragged to the shore, broken by storm. He mother never made it there.
