We are just going to have to make due.
In a small farming town, a young man stands outside his father’s den. He takes a few deep breaths – he has to do this. He’s heard other people’s stories, both good and bad; the talk went okay with momma, but daddy still has to know.
The den door opens.
“Hey pop.”
“Hey Jake… got your chores done?”
“Yeah dad”
“Homework?”
“Pop I got something… can we, can we talk?”
“Sure… what’s on your mind?”
“Dad… I’m gay”
“…Well, I kind of figured that… you’re too damn clean, boy…and you never brought girls home either. Not even that big gal… and you got too much of your old man in you to not have them urges”
“Mom told you”
“Yeah… your mom told me… you told any of your friends?”
“Nope… not going to either… not yet anyway”
“Makes sense… this ain’t the kind of place for that”
“… I know pop. I know”
“But you’ll be okay son, once you head off to college”
“Yeah pop… just one more year”
“It’s okay son… I know what you’re going through… your old man’s got a thing for Asian chicks.”
