Dear Professor Fortune:

It is with regret that we inform you of the decision to deny your grant for the “nuclear-powered, missile-armed dino-zeppelin.” While the advancement in both technology and science is certain, the practical use of such an aggressive piece of machinery is not. Your tirade on using the vehicle to squash the “nemeses’ of mankind” and of providing a world where “good must, and will, prevail” unfortunately made the review board a bit, shall we say, hesitant. Finally and most importantly, our board is looking to provide grants for technology that aids society in a peaceful manner, not one that hopes to “strike fear in the hearts of all forms of evil.” We applaud your dedication as a scientific humanitarian yet we apologize that we cannot possibly grant you the funds at this time.
