The barking dogs brought the Lieutenant back to the task at hand. They had served their purpose, no reason to keep them in danger. He looked back to the Private holding the leashes, his face was pale, his eyes darting everywhere as he tried to take in his surroundings before the moon was covered again by the clouds. The Lieutenant gave him an order to return to the HQ with the dogs and the Private gladly accepted the command.

As the young man disappeared back towards the town, the Lieutenant took point while his remaining four men followed behind scanning the trees and brush for any sign of the girl or her abductor. Every step they took was carefully considered, any movement could alert unwelcome company. The moon was gone now and the dark clouds began to let loose the beginnings of a rain storm. The Lieutenant took the rain as a blessing and a curse. On the one hand it would keep most of their little problems from venturing out. But on the other it would make it harder to see the big ones coming.
