Bizarre and very intense moment. The last sentence explains it all, but does so in an abrupt way that doesn’t quite fit the rest of the story. I can see what you were going for, a twist as to who was the good guy and who was the bad guy. The execution of that last sentence just didn’t quite work for me. Otherwise a great bit of storytelling, I thought.
