Floating In The Local Pool

I promised myself that this summer wouldn’t suck. I had no job this year, and my best friend, Justin, made me promise that we’d have fun this summer—real fun. So when he told me that it would be a good idea to sneak into the neighborhood pool for a quick swim, I was up for it.

“It’ll be fun, Felicia, I promise!” He told me as I met up with him halfway. This wasn’t the first time we had met up like this. Sneaking out of my house was practically a routine now; from the beginning of summer Justin and I had snuck out and went places that seemed invisible during the day. This time, though, I kind of felt like skinny dipping in the local pool wasn’t going to be fun.

We arrived at the only thing that kept us from the pool, a simple metal fence. Climbing over it was easy enough, but what started to worry me was that there was a figure laying in the pool.

“Someone’s here…” I whispered to Justin, hoping it would knock some sense into him. But as we grew closer, we saw a clear view of the figure.

Sara’s body.
