You played good tonight

The club was full as David played the grand piano. His music only background noise to it’s patrons. He didn’t want to be here. He wanted to be in a studio recording music. He loved being a studio musician. He could play anything. However, he was laid off 3 months ago.

A woman passed by the piano and dropped a 5 dollar bill in David’s tip jar. David smiled and thanked her. With that 5, David was pulling in only 12 bucks for 4 hours. In 4 hours in a studio he could pull almost a grand.

David finished and decided to take a smoke break. When he stepped outside he saw the woman who tipped him as she walked away. She saw him and called back, “You played good tonight.”

“Thanks,” David said.

When David went back inside, something caught his eye in the tip jar that he didn’t see before. It was a business card. David pulled it out and read, “YOU PLAYED GOOD TONIGHT. CALL ME” in blue pen on one side. On the other was the name “Tess Trueheart – President – Hearts Record Label”

David smiled.
