Sixteen Candles, Sixteen Pills
Cady looked out of her very square, very foggy window. She was all alone, completely abandoned on her sixteenth birthday. Her parents had left for London, and hadn’t even bothered to send her a card.
To waste some time she flicked on the television screen. “Sixteen Candles” was playing. Cady watched in envy as Molly Ringwalds character hopped into the handsome Jake Ryan’s car. “Why can’t my life be like that,” she whispered. “Why can’t I have a fairytale ending too?”
She turned the television off in frustration. “All I want is to be noticed. Just for one moment in time, I would like all eyes to be one me.” She slumped over to her bed in defeat. She would never end up like Cinderella. Not in this life anyway.
She tucked herself underneath her covers and looked outside of her very square, very foggy window. Then, she slipped sixteen pills into her mouth. The next morning, she would get her fairytale ending. The next morning just for one moment in time, all eyes would be on her.
