The Ring Goes Southeast (Scene 2)
“The means of my arrival is something of a mystery to me, but I have now been in Rivendell for several weeks as Elrond’s guest. In that time, I have learned much about the dangers of your situation. The Council’s discussions provided more detail, but it was not until I heard your tale, Gandalf, that I saw a possibility.”
Spock paused. “Elrond has been generous to supply me with a substantial amount of information, but it isn’t enough. Where the Ring and its history are concerned, you are the most knowledgeable person there is. Logic dictates that the best plan of action derives from the most complete data. With your permission, I would share your thoughts and memories.”
Gandalf replied, “What must I do?”
Spock motioned toward a bench. “Relax.”
As they sat, Elrond smiled enigmatically and said, “You are about to have a unique and…” He raised one eyebrow. “… fascinating experience.”
Spock brought his hands to Gandalf’s face. “My mind to your mind… my thoughts to your thoughts…”
