Lineage - Part 2
“Our mother would turn in her grave, God rest her soul if she found us here on this day,” The King paced back in forth in front of his brother bound in chains. “By my divine duty I must sentence you to death, however I cannot strike against my own brother!”
“May I speak, my Lord?” The prisoner looked up to see compassion in The Kings eyes.
“Please, I beg of you to do so,” The King pleaded.
“There are wrongs that I cannot explain, wrong doings that have led me down a path of destruction towards this royal house. It is not out of jealousy I have acted this way, nor is it out of a diminished love for flesh and blood. I wish to God Almighty it was for the heart of a woman, then I at least have something to die for, but that wish lies unfulfilled.”
“Then what is it then?” The King asked, “Money? Power? The Throne? If it was the throne, I would step down as ruler in a heart beat for my own kin, I would’ve made us both viceroys of this land!”
“No it is none of those things, it….it was to protect your son.”
