Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda.
Now she’s older, and the embers of romance have faded to mortgages and ‘leccy bills. Nobody told her she’s ever reach the stage where her husband bored her and she’d lie about her age. She never thought she’d get so old and boring.
He’s compromising; at least he’s got a job for life.
At school he used to dream about being Bruce Lee, spent days at classes for Taekwando and Ninjitsu arts, even bought a samurai sword. He’d never thought he’d get excited over a new crime drama on ITV.
Now they just sit on the same sofa, watching TV and eating microwave dinners on their laps, night after night, while their children scream to noone’s hearing.
They never thought their lives would revolve around paying debt and the weekly shop.
They thought they’d be special.
But they’re just like everybody else.
