Kara pulled on Matt’s hand, urging him to go faster.
“C’mon, Mattie, I wanna go thwing!”, she lisped as her blond pigtails bounced in the spring sunshine.
“Hold your horses,” he laughed. It was a perfect day to go to the park, not too hot, not too cold. Matt helped Kara up onto the swings.
“Push me!”
Matt gave her a little push.
“Higher,” she squealed.
“Here,” he said. “Let me teach you how to make the swing go by yourself.”
Patiently he taught her to pump her legs, leaning back and sitting up to make the swing go ever higher. Soon she was able to make the swing go by herself. He got into the swing next to her and matched her pace. The swung side by side for what seemed like hours. Matt would always remember that perfect day and Kara’s pigtails swinging in the breeze.
