I like this a lot. Reminds of Dave Lister on Earth, tending to a plant.

The anthropomorphising of nature, such as saying that mountains straighten their backbones, leads me to think that the narrator believes in some form of animism or gaiaism.

In addition, the use of “forefathers” and the equanimity of the ending really make me think the narrator is a native american.

It conjures up a lot of images, with just a few words. Really nice.

I totally love the last two lines.
They sum everything up well.

The world is never at equilibrium, but this doesn’t detract from the sentimentality of the ficly.

I’m not sure if this has a happy ending or a sad ending. Nevertheless this is excellent!
