Definitely giant spiders. Giant enough that a steel bear trap doesn’t take them down completely and a team of axe wielding Forest Rangers needs to finish the job.
I think these stories really work because most people think of forestry workers as bossy types telling you not to litter, while in these stories they are obviously stony-faced badasses.
Way to take a cue from your previous comments. I know I love that feeling when someone’s impression of your work opens new doors for you to continue or enhance what you’ve written. I am still unclear on the purpose for the trapping and killing of these spiders. Is it for the protection of people or for the harvesting of the spiders’ silk and venom? Or both?
