And yes, I found this enjoyable. We are beginning to see the strength of this man’s character as his thoughts reveal the bias women face in the work place. And although he’d stick his head in the oven before he welcomed any advances from Mitzy, i think he is at least intelligent enough to manipulate her desire for him to get what he wants. Nicely done. A little confusing to figure out who initially speaks, "“Who doth beckons me from my happy fantasy of buttercream and orange?”— but it’s not detrimental as the rest of the story clears that up. You might consider adding something like, Mitzy, the manager said— to that bit of dialogue I just pointed out.
