The rearview mirror.

I’m in the driver’s seat. I always have been. Anyone who thinks any different is delusional. There are no passengers in the road of life.

Keep your eyes on the road ahead. That’s the key. Your hands are on the wheel and you’re deciding which path to take. Nobody else can do that for you.

Sometimes you may have an accident, encounter a roadblock, make a mistake, see a wreck, have mechanical troubles and even get lost. The journey will continue past these obstacles and distractions until the one day it doesn’t.

The worst thing you can do is look back at those setbacks. They’re behind you. The road is in front of you. Keep an eye on the road. Glance in the rear-view mirror, if you must, to see where you came from and to confirm what was left behind, but never focus on that reflection of the past.

There are more curves ahead, more landscapes to cross, more motorists to meet, more obstacles to overcome and more miles to travel along your journey.

The odometer keeps ticking by until the one day it doesn’t.
