The Lesson.

The United States of America is in decline, in case y’all hadn’t heard.

It’s all over the television set, plastered on every page of the internet, written on the front page of every paper with the ink still wet and that’s the only news you’re gonna get. This country is dying. If not dying, then getting sick and weak.

Everywhere you turn, you see the media teaching us how to thrive in tough times. Everywhere you look, you see a lesson about dealing with having less. All in all, the state of affairs have become a mess.

Me? I never was much for education. I didn’t take to school any more than I took to general figures of authority. I’d much rather make up my own mind, you see? So, when the media tells me that the country ain’t what it used to be, I tend to disagree.

This country is still a land of opportunity. You have to see the opportunities that are there. Maybe all the tuxedo-wearing capitalists gorged on the low-hanging fruit.

That doesn’t mean a man with a gun can’t find his fortune in this land.
