Nice emotive piece. Did you only choose to capitalise Ilana for a reason?
You chose to refer to her directly by name much more than is usual, but I don’t understand why you didn’t solely refer to her by her name if that’s the effect you were going for.
Thank you Akheloios. I’ve been avoiding capitalization since I read some short stories by Charles Bukowski where he did away with that norm. Doing that, a norm becomes and expressive device. Plus there is something simple and bare bones about it that I enjoy. You have a point about repeating the name a lot (for effect) or just using the pronoun. I think i was just getting used to this format and lacked a bit of consistency.
