Infodumps are hard :’(

I hate you worldbuilding, you and the narrative you rode in on!

I think it’s sometimes harder to trickle information slowly out with ficly: it demands such brevity and directness of us.

That being said, you managed to infodump with style! If you hadn’t pointed it out, I don’t think it would have been obvious.

Not an infodump at all, I thought. It’s a good example of sci-fi exploring a real human emotion, pity with a touch of guilt in the context of class or other differences of advantage. The privileged, or perhaps the just-privileged-enough tend to see that and take pause as you’ve shown here. Nicely done.
