Actually, I believe that the dimensional reference is correct. In this sense you need to be understanding dimensionality as defined by string theory. See, faster than light is not physically possible because of the laws of physics inside on our dimension. As you progress through to higher dimensions, “space” becomes significantly more complex and the same laws of physics, for example the arbitrary designation of “c” becomes meaningless.

And at no point in time would any crew be disintegrated and reintegrated, but I’m pretty sure there would be considerable nausea :)
