Nicely descriptive, the ‘tight hole of seared flesh smoldering satisfactorily.’ is a very cold statement, which plays well against the heat of the weapon.

Nicely done! Way more technically descriptive than your other ficly. Sounded plausible and for a plasma gun!

I’ve always expected energy-based weaponry to be similar to projectile guns, at least in the beginning. Flash, bang, recoil, etc. The only difference is what is being fired, its accuracy, expense, and destructive capability.

The story did have a slo-mo tendency, like watching a movie.

I liked this concept. Expanding something that takes fractions of a second to expose everything that happens.
