The ironic twist is very nice, hints of self loathing, irrationality and downright privileged malevolence.
Interesting to see your take on AI, Juliet seems to have been fully emotional so far, and so does Bill, but the other bots have been painted as empty, only capable of mimicking emotions.
I’ve always liked the Philip K Dick idea of giving souls to bots and then using the hatred against them as a metaphor for racism.
Very exciting and well wrought. It took me a while to catch cause it’s been a while, and I tried to link it directly to the one before. I’d forgotten who we have different story lines bouncing around in the stream. I even think I added a side sequel at some point. Great stuff and does have that super tragic twist element to it.
The thunder and scream work well in the first paragraph— they create a sense of fear and urgency. Both of those sounds can be loud and distressing. When you combined them you effectively raised the anxiety level for me, the reader.
The story moves from the natural world of animal-like emotion to the technical inner-workings of your character’s with fluidity. I’m loving the duality of both worlds coming together in Bill and how you impart the story from the inside and out.
awesome freakin awesome i want to cuss, and stomp and yell and everything that would make my neighbors go what the hell is wrong with him. This is just pure word magic you are really a lyrical wizard.
Okay, so the robot becomes a human and the human becomes a bot; the sympathetic doctor sends a suicidal hit-man to kill the girl and a boy loved the bot? Is that it so far? I’ll keep reading..
