In the name of all that is science

“I believe that you will find the results satisfactory, doctor.”

The older man turned away from his viewscreen to face the adjunct.

“Far from it. Statistically significant, explicative, even, but far from satisfactory.”

The adjunct’s smile warped as his jaw dropped and his eyes widened.

“But sir – not satisfactory? How not! The experiment has been your brain child for millenia! The work that has been done to control conditions, to simulate the universe, to generate a planet for science’s sake, and now we are at the climax!”

The older man nodded in agreement.

“Yes. Much work has been done, but it leaves me with no confidence in the homo sapiens. Their world was constructed with precise laws, measurable by various sciences, and all was directed to be scientifically accessible. Yet when I introduced the variable, they jumped at it. They fought over it. They abandoned science for it.

“To think – they fell for such a farce as the idea of god. Disappointing. Prepare the next species.”
