The Vine
The Vine – By Sophie Johnston
Fluorescent branches resembled the many menacing robotic failures crippling underneath the moon’s menacing beams. The moon’s menacing beams targeted a corpse and shot fire at a poorly built hovercraft on an eerie starless night. The lights on board the ship flickered on and off until falling onto the dusty grounds of Jupiter near the electronic huts we called home.
It was raining, but there were no clouds in sight. It was humid, but where was the sun? Was it hiding from the freaks we call nature, has it sunken deep into the depths of our mutated failures or has it always been hiding but never been noticed? The date was February 21st 2099 when Professor Charles first arrived on planet Jupiter. He was brought up in the Planet Life Corporation as an orphan; his brother had died halfway to Jupiter due to the dramatic loss of oxygen inside his spacecraft. Charles was now on his own as a lonely orphan, arriving on this completely different planet.
