Through Her Eyes
She looks at this portrait, one that lays atop a mantle, above a roaring fire. The family in the picture looks as if they’re nothing less than perfect. When you look at the picture you see the mother, all bright eyed with a beaming white smile. You see a father, his sunken eyes have the slightest bit of a twinkle. You see a brother whos hair has been messed to perfection. You see a daughter who looks as if she could just take your breath away with one look of her Carribean blue eyes. But through those eyes this daughter sees alot more than just cute boys. Through those eyes the daughter watched as her mother left the her, forever. Through those eyes the daughter watched as her father lost the twinkle in his eyes as he downed a bottle of scotch and beat her. Through those eyes the daughter watched as her brother tried to save her. Through those eyes the daughter watched as her brother took his last breath. Yes, atop a mantle sits a family portrait, but not a portrait that has been seen through her eyes.
