Elegantly presented and held on theme by a great command of descriptive wording. An entertaining ficly and worthy of praise.

chess, like wizard’s chess from a certain movie and book series. The shadow absorbing her is a great metaphor. I can almost see a magic trick where her piece is palmed, seeming to disappear, while the Dark forces overtaking her are also alluded to.

I love it! So creative. You make a game of chess seem like a ghastly fight to the death, which is awesome. The fear was so tangible, I could almost feel the horse’s breath on the back of my neck!

I’ve always wondered how chessmen feel, sent off to live or die at some godly hand. I was hoping she’d reach the end and become a Queen at the end, but tragedy strikes, and she’s lifted off the board.

wow this is awesome plus. i love it there is an anime series called last exile where all the episodes are named after chess moves just thought id throw that plug in there. great job
