Ouch that stings. On the one hand, it’s an effective poem. On the other hand, it hits one of my pet peeves, the whole thing about hospital births being bad and anethemic to mother-child bonding. Using that as a focal point to stand in for a general experience of neglect and poor concern, I think it works, once I put aside my little personal bent on that topic, so good job.
Kind of crazy how we welcome a new member of our species into the world with this cold and detached process that’s littered with latex gloves, soaked with numbing drugs and performed with stainless steel surgical instruments. No sense of warmth or love exists in the act. Welcome to the world, baby, it sucks here.
